And always · ten minutes away
Fed by glacial marl, Kalamalka Lake shifts between impossible blues and greens through the day — unlike anywhere else in the Okanagan. Swim it, paddle it, or simply sit on Kal Beach and watch the colour change. Pack the picnic basket and make an afternoon of it.

The quilt shop
Every bed at Quail's Crossing is dressed in a quilt Suzanne made herself, almost all of them her own designs — a passion she discovered when the nest emptied, stitched through long Okanagan winters.
Here's the secret most guests discover on their last morning: every quilt in the house is for sale. And the quilts are just the start — weaving, woodwork, and whatever else she's making this season all live in one place.

Our story
Before Quail's Crossing was a retreat, it was simply Suzanne's life — engineer, maker, mother of three, traveller of five continents. Stay here and you're not booking a room; you're stepping into her story.
Chapter 01
Suzanne's first great journey came early: three years in Zambia — and instead of flying home, her family fitted out a Toyota van and camped their way across Africa, took a boat to Bombay, and drove on to London. Later came boarding school in England while her parents worked in Iran. Wandering was the family language.
Chapter 02
Army basic training as a summer job. A Mechanical Engineering degree and a Master's in Industrial Engineering at Waterloo. And between the degrees, the road again — trekking Thailand and Malaysia, hiking Srinagar to Ladakh, crossing East Africa on the back of a truck. Her career ran from consulting all the way to VP of Engineering.
Chapter 03
The home you'll stay in, she shaped herself — every room renovated with her own hands, the kitchen and bathroom cabinets built, tiled and painted by her, along with the guesthouse and the feature deck where you'll linger over breakfast.
Chapter 04
With three kids aged 13, 9 and 7, she pulled them out of school and travelled for a full year — the Galápagos, the Inca Trail, the Falkland Islands, Egypt, Turkey. Today each guest room is named for one of her children — the Champion, Serenity and Music rooms — and every name has a story she'll happily tell you.
Chapter 05
When the nest emptied and the world went quiet, Suzanne found quilting — every bed now wears a design of her own (and yes, they're for sale). A loom stands in the living room, the woodworking list never gets shorter, and the travel? That never stopped.
“Quail's Crossing isn't a decorated guesthouse — it's a life you get to sleep inside.”
Guest stories
“The moment you meet her, you feel a wave of generous, loving energy that tells you you're exactly where you're supposed to be. … Every morning, we gathered on the breathtaking patio to enjoy a spectacular breakfast featuring homemade toast so perfect I'm still thinking about the texture. … We didn't just find a place to stay in Kelowna; we found a sanctuary.”
Chen Tao · Vancouver · Stayed a few nights
“We had a wonderful stay at Suzanne's place! She was a very approachable and engaged host … I highly recommend asking her for the breakfast and try out all her impressive self-made jams (everything is from her own garden). Last but not least, the room and bathroom were in impeccable condition.”
Margarete Christine · 8 years on Airbnb
“She is an amazing host with lots to offer. … Her place is so beautiful with a breath-taking view over the patio — mountains and winery. Even though we shared it with 3 more couples, we felt it was a big family gathering. All because of her warm, kind-hearted, friendly nature.”
Harjinder · Burnaby, Canada
“What truly stood out was Suzanne herself. She was compassionate, attentive, and treated us with such warmth that we genuinely felt like family. One sweet touch: she shared fresh cherries with us — and I can honestly say, they were the best cherries I've ever tasted!”
Paola · Surrey, Canada
